Resident Spotlight: Marianne Ronan
Marianne Ronan moved to Kansas City from Albany, MO in 2016 to be closer to her family. When looking for a place to live, Union Hill won her over because of the great amount of green spaces throughout the neighborhood and her love of nature. Marianne loves the great scenic views in the heart of the city that she is able to see from her large one-bedroom apartment. Marianne enjoys sitting on her balcony drinking her morning cup of coffee while overlooking Union Hill Cemetery. She loves the sense of peace and quiet that her patio provides and loves the privacy and feeling of being one with nature.
Marianne also loves the versatility of the floor plan as she is able to set up her furniture in several different ways. Another feature that she loves is the sense of safety that she has in her secured access building, the underground parking garage underneath the building, and the in-unit alarm system.
Marianne enjoys spending time in nature, gardening, and volunteering at Union Station, the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts and at the Library. Living in the downtown area has allowed her to see her family almost every day. She is close to everyone and everything. Marianne and her daughter love exploring the city and trying out great new restaurants throughout Union Hill and the entire city. She also loves that Union Station is right in her backyard. She can hop on a train to anywhere in the country and has been to as far out as Florida and Portland.
Living in the downtown area has allowed Marianne to take full advantage of Kansas City’s great transit system and free street car. With her senior discount, she only pays $.75 to ride the bus and is able to go almost anywhere in the city from Union Hill’s central location. She loves taking her granddaughter to the River Market, Ward Parkway, the Plaza, Crown Center, and Walmart. She can get to all of these places without ever taking her car out of the garage by making all of these trips by public transportation.
