Nearly 200 New Platinum Apartment Homes, Modeled after Residences Found in Chicago’s Lincoln Park, and Loft-Style Apartment Units Opening in Union Hill

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Union Hill, one of Kansas City’s oldest neighborhoods, spanning 16 blocks, will fulfill a master plan with the addition of nearly 200 new lifestyle leasing options. Based on two years of research and design, the new apartment homes, nearing completion, are the highly-designed, fully hard-wired and very unique Platinum Lifestyle homes and Loft Lifestyle buildings. The new additions to the neighborhood bring signature architecture and design that blend with the historic homes, townhomes, condominiums, and apartments already located in the 16-block district that includes dining, entertainment, services, and green space. First-floor retail as well as a storage component are part of the Loft Lifestyle buildings.

Union Hill is also receiving $1.2 million in neighborhood and streetscape improvements along the district’s Gilham Road border on the east from the Greenlease Cadillac Building to the 31st street border on the south. The improvements will include trees, increased pedestrian lighting, new walkways, and planter beds. A rain water cistern will provide irrigation for the landscape additions.

In the more than 30 years since the redevelopment of the neighborhood began, nearly $200 million has invested to preserve and evolve the neighborhood. Local ownership, development, management and leadership maintain and ensure the success and stability of Union Hill as a neighborhood. The restoration and redevelopment of Union Hill began 30 years ago with Bob Frye’s vision and commitment to the neighborhood, building on a history of more than 150 years.

The combined residential and retail district, with more than 1000 residents offers extensive green space, restaurants and retail for the urban minded that still seek the feeling of a neighborhood with the convenience of the many nearby downtown and Plaza arts, entertainment and shopping destinations.

Residents range from young professionals to active-minded empty nesters, throughout the historic homes, townhomes, condominiums and apartment homes in the Union Hill district.
