Café Europa has long been a Crestwood staple – and it’s now poised to become one in Union Hill, too. This morning, it was announced that the restaurant is officially expanding into the new McGee Building at 2980 Gillham Road, in a mixed-use development that features street-level retail with residential units above.

Café Europa’s new space will feature a street-facing kitchen and a large footprint, which will allow the restaurant to expand its services from those available at the Crestwood location. The Union Hill location will operate as a bakery with a selection of prepared and to-go meals, as well as a full-service restaurant serving a “casual breakfast,” lunch and dinner. Menu items at both locations will largely be similar, but the Union Hill location will feature some original dishes.

The new space is also large enough to include a separate bar, which will feature its own bar program, as well as private rooms for special events. The dog-friendly patio will overlook the Filling Station coffee shop and the residential developments on Gillham Road.

The project is be overseen by chef Nate Feldmiller and general manager Dan Weber, with the blessings of former owners Andy Atterbury and Gwyn Prentice. The couple extended their congratulations in a statement:

“We thank Dan and Nate for their stewardship of Cafe Europa. They are the heart of Café Europa and we are thrilled for them to officially own what they have created as they continue to grow.”

Café Europa Union Hill is slated for a September opening. Catch your fix until then at the original location.
