Resident Spotlight – Kendra O’Sullivan

Kendra O’Sullivan, Technical Recruiter for Austin Nichols, Union Hill resident since 2012, hometown- Bloomington Minnesota.

Kendra moved into Union Hill with three residency students back in 2012. It was a blind date roommate style, or New Girl situation if you will. She had never met her roommates before and was virtually introduced to them by a mutual friend. The roommates and Kendra were at different phases in life, so unfortunately things didn’t work out and Kendra moved out of Union Hill to a different community for a short six months. She quickly moved back to Union Hill after dealing with neighbor disputes, poor property up-keep, and crime issues at the other community.

Kendra returned to Union Hill because she missed the thoughtfully designed and spacious floorplan, abundant greenspace for her dog, Ollie, the convenient location, secured garage parking, washer and dryer in unit and elevator access in the buildings.

Kendra currently lives in a one-bedroom apartment in the James Hunter building and her absolute favorite thing about Union Hill is the sense of community. Kendra hosts Murder Mystery nights in her apartment every Tuesday, and holds get togethers for her neighbors at least twice a year.

“So many neighbors have turned into family, which is important, because my family lives out of town.” She hopes that the connections she has built here will last a lifetime. Kendra says it helps to have so many networking opportunities and to be surrounded with so many like-minded neighbors.

Kendra loves all of the locally owned neighborhood establishments that she can walk to. Where bartenders know your name and you see familiar faces all around you.  From Thirsty Thursday’s at Underdog, game days at Tower Tavern and brunches at Ollies and Cafe Europa. There is always something to do. Not to mention Kendra runs the corn hole and bocce ball league at Brickhouse. It also helps that these places are dog friendly so she can bring her pup, Ollie, along.

Kendra works out at the Union Hill Athletic club, along with several neighbors who are now her workout buddies. After working out Kendra sometimes goes to Cafe Europa to pick up a cinnamon roll, as a reward. She also runs in the neighborhood and at Union Cemetery with several neighbors. They keep each other motived and it’s always more fun to workout with other people. During the summertime Kendra goes to Food Truck Friday at the cemetery as often as she can.  She also walks to Penn Valley Dog Park with her neighbors, beer and pups in tow, it’s a great time for both humans and dogs. This is Kendra’s version of how to live in Union Hill.
